Research topic: Modeling and understanding the different stages of gene expression; understanding gene expression in human diseases; evolution of gene expression; deciphering the way features related to gene expression are encoded in the transcripts.

Research methods: Computational systems biology, Synthetic biology, Analysis of large scale genomic data and cellular measurements, Molecular evolution, Mathematical and statistical analysis, Algorithms, Ribosomal profiling, Molecular and Cellular Biology.

Projects in the lab include:

  1. Computational predictive biophysical modeling of various gene expression aspects in healthy and diseased tissues.
  2. Understanding changes in gene expression regulation and protein-protein interaction in neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis; diagnosis of neurological diseases based on gene expression.
  3. Sequence and gene expression evolution, specifically of brain expressed genes.
  4. Understanding and modeling the effect of mutations and SNPs on neurological diseases pathogenesis.
