Research topic: Development of new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) methodologies for studying microstructures and pathologies of the central nervous system. Development of magnetic nanoparticles for cellular and molecular MRI of the CNS.

Research methods: Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Diffusion MRI (DTI, QSI and double-PFG MRI); Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS); Synthesis of Magnetic Nanoparticles.

Main projects in the lab include:

  1. The development of double-FPG MRI for studying dynamic micro-structural changes in gray matter in vivo
  2. Diffusion MRI of white matter associated disorders and the relative importance of myelin in diffusion MRI
  3. Following stem cell therapy and stem cell migration using MRI in experimental models of Huntington and Parkinson diseases (with Daniel Offen)
  4. Development of new magnetic nanoparticles for calcium determination using MRI
