Research topic: How is speech represented in the human brain at the single neuron level – In health and neurodegenerative diseases?

Research methods: Studies in humans using: Single neuron recordings in humans; Human neurophysiology; Intra-operative experiments; Speech analysis; Modeling (e.g., Information Theory techniques); Decoding behavior from electrical neural activity; Local field potentials (LFPs); Electrocorticography (ECoG); Intra-cranial electroencephalography (IC-EEG).

Main projects in the lab include:

  1. Understanding the representation of speech in the neuronal code in the human brain.
  2. Decoding speech contents from the electrical activity of single neurons or populations of neurons.
  3. Understanding the deterioration of speech in Parkinson’s disease at the single neuron level.
