Research topic: Elucidating the molecular mechanisms of myelin formation and maintenance in the CNS using a mouse model for Vanishing White Matter (VWM) disease; Differentiation of stem cells to the neuronal lineage; Translational control in learning and memory; Translational Control of Gene Expression in Health and Disease.

Research methods: Molecular and Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Immuno-histochemistry, Confocal & Electron Microscopy; Behavioral studies, MRI, Stem Cells Biology, DNA microarrays and quantitative Real-Time PCR.

Main projects in the lab include:

  1. Differentiation of Embryonic Stem Cells to myelinating cells
  2. Development of a drug for the treatment of Vanishing White Matter disease
  3. Effect of stress on myelin maintenance
  4. Translational control in Learning and memory
